A drop of life

The scope of this project was to make a package about the blood drive at Olathe Northwest. The process in creating this video was short because we had to film it all in one day. We had to research blood drives and come up with questions to ask in our interviews. Then we had come up with an angle we wanted to tell the story in.  Along the way we learned how to film without a tripod and how to do backpack journalism. In my next project I will apply the correct way to hold the camera without a tripod and gathering all my b-roll and interviews on the same day. Something I would do differently would be to plan a little better and come up with better interview questions and get better b-roll. Overall this project was difficult to film and do interviews because we were constantly moving and there were a lot of things we weren't allowed to film.

Logo process and design

This is my personal logo. I Chose these colors because yellow is a bright and cheery and I'm a bright and cheery person. Then I chose blue because it compliments the yellow and blue is a calming color and I am usually a calm person. Then for the shape I created a unique shape to symbolize how I am an unique person. I also put a circle round my name to symbolize friendship and that I am a friendly person.      For my logo design process I wrote down ten words that described me and from those ten words I thought of shapes and colors that associate with those words. Then from there I created 15 thumbnail sketches. After that  we had to create a creative brief and discuss with our partner logo ideas based off that creative brief. once that was done I created my logos.

Professional Project Review

In this video Lynn Dillard films him and his daughter donating blood to the American Red Cross ( Dilliard, Lynn Wray. "Red Cross Blood Drive."  YouTube . YouTube, 17 Aug. 2012. Web. 11 Nov. 2015.) This video didn’t use the rule of thirds when interviewing people. The camera was very shaky when he was filming himself giving blood. Another thing was that there were awkward camera angles and he didn’t use the six shot system. The music choice was poor it didn’t go with the theme or story of the video. This video didn’t really have a story it was mainly a video of them giving blood and it was told through a donors perspective. The one thing I would apply in my video that this video had was that the camera was focused correctly. One thing I’ve learned that this video has is the correct way to white balance. The creator of this video did a decent job on focusing the camera and using good lighting however, they need to work on telling a story an...

ONW Now Feature Story

This project took about three weeks to film and edit. We were paired up with one other student and our goal was to interview them about a passion or hobby they do. In the beginning we paired up with our partners and discussed ideas that we had about filming and then we got together to set up times to film and interview.  It was difficult to work around each others schedules especially if what they wanted to film was an outside school activity.  Along the way I learned the correct way to set up an interview and how to use key lighting. I also learned how to stagger the b-roll with soundbites and voice overs. Professionally I learned how to work with the client and collaborate to come up with a creative idea.  For my next project something I would differently is get more b-roll and come up with better interview questions. However will keep the same interview set up.
